The Procession - Major Minor

Since all things retro seem to be ‘in’ this summer, this all-American slice of pop that’s reminiscent of the Beach Boys should fit right in. It wears its 1960s/west coast influences unashamedly on its sleeve and that ought to be enough to make The Procession stand out. The only problem is that with the UK music scene being dominated by sassy female solo artists (Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse) and noiseniks like the Arctic Monkeys, are The Procession in danger of being viewed as little more than a tribute band?

 If you judge it on quality of the tunes, then The Procession deserve a fair hearing because this is great music that puts a smile on your face (and isn’t that what it’s all about?).
