This single is taken from the Hold Steady’s third Album ‘Girls and Boys in America’ and is an amazing story telling song.

With its fierce guitar riff and melodic piano and with the lead singer Craig Finn growling all over the track such classic lines as: ‘she was a damn good kisser/but she wasn’t all that strict a Christian/she was a real good dancer but she wasn’t much of a girlfriend’, highlighting the bands song writing pedigree perfectly.

With obvious comparisons to Bruce Springsteen and Thin Lizzy this is a band that is well worth a listen.
