'Take this Heart'

If you were lucky enough
to catch Nic Armstrong
on his jaunt round the
UK in 2005 you'll be
familiar with his
musical nods to the
Liverpool 60's scene.
Since notching up
support slots to the
likes of oasis & Paul
Weller & enjoying
critical acclaim for his
'The Greatest White
Liar' album, he's gone
back to the US, got
himself a permanent band
and changed their name
to the more democratic
IV Thieves. The result
is that the retro vibe
has matured into a sound
that evokes the best
bits of bands like The
La's and shack but makes
for a genuinely warm &
unique sound. Take this
Heart is an unashamed
stomper of a track that
almost verges into glam
rock territory but
without the cheese
factor, while on the
flip side 'Won't be
Fooled' is as warm as
west coast LA sunshine.
It certainly bodes well
for debut album 'If we
can't Escape my Pretty',
which is out now.
