It's so refreshing to
hear some music that
isn't in your face the
whole time, but some how
still leaves a lasting
addictive taste in your
mouth. Calla are exactly
what we're in the mood
for, and their album
'Collisions' is exactly
what we need. More
impressive sounds coming
over (at last) from the
USA and having a lead
singer with the name
Aurelio Valle (what a
name, what a voice) it's
no wonder Calla are so
memorable. If you
remember how great The
Crocketts were his voice
is just like that, and
just as dark and
sinister. Yet somehow
you find yourself
smiling as you listen to
this album, and falling
in love with the
diversity of these
songwriters. The songs
that stick out in my
mind are: 'This Better
Go As Planned',
'Testify' and 'Swagger',
but the album is so now,
and so needs to be
bought when it comes out
on February 6th this
year. Calla's sound is
as chilled as early
Dandy Warhols, with just
as much credibility to
come.
