I was brought up in Durban, South Africa but have lived in Glasgow since 1997. I've always had an unhealthy obsession with indie music but the older I get I start to crave for the heavier sounds that dominated my teenage years.
My favourite current band are Maximo Park, by a long way. My favourite all time band are the Pixies, with The Stone Roses a close second. I've fallen hopelessly in love with so many great bands in the last few years, including A Perfect Circle, Alfie, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Rakes, The Futureheads and so many more.
I'll give anything a chance though and really enjoy reviewing records and gigs. Manilla Magazine was always so great in its coverage of less-than-famous bands and I always got a thrill when a wee package full of new gems (and sometimes pebbles) fell through my letterbox.
I'm really excited about Music4M and I hope we can keep that proud tradition going.
The best Christmas present I ever got was a promo copy of the Arctic Monkeys debut album. It fell through my letterbox on Christmas Eve 2005 and I was happy as a pig in shit.
The best gig I've ever seen was The Breeders at Glasgow QMU in 2002 and the second best gig I've ever seen was Maximo Park at Glasgow King Tut's in 2005.
Oh happy days.
